OFF-WHITE LAUNCH A CAPSULE COLLECTION
The men’s shows might have just finished, but the circle of collections is a never-ending one. Just days after he showed his great new visions of menswear at both Louis Vuitton and Off-White, Virgil Abloh’s capsule collection is launching at Mr Porter. Off-season and Off-White – the collection is comprised of 20 ready-to-wear pieces, 18 accessories and 6 pairs of footwear, all paying homage to our old ideas of workwear meshed with the new, contemporary office uniforms. Admittedly, the latter have changed thanks to Virgil himself, a designer who’s responsible for making it okay to wear trainers to the offices around the world. Just like Miranda Priestley lauds in her iconic monologue on the influence of catwalks onto the real world, it’s Virgil Abloh who introduced the casual dress codes to the general public with his streetwear-oriented shows. Titled ‘Modern Office’ (quotation marks included), this exclusive collection launching with Mr Porter is actually a continuation of that notion, which now seemed to have grown into smart-cazh. Tailored linen trousers worn with hi-tops, tees and caps against the punchy outerwear… It’s a world of contradictions, and it’s bound to sell out before you can say even say “Off-White”. Hurry, hurry!
